| Long ago when I was too scared to work on my car, I had Courtesy Nissan do my 120K. They said one of my cam sprockets was leaking so I shelled out $440 for a new sprocket on top of the rest of the parts and labor charges(ouch). Later, when I did the 180K on my own, I found that they had installed a "new" sprocket on my 1991 engine. It was the type of sprocket that is bolted together and you can change the cam timing with. I didn't see any sort of "adapter" when I pulled the sprockets off the cams to replace the cam seals. I've read other people say you can't use the "new" sprockets on the old cams, but it seemed to work fine on my engine for 100,000 miles until I lost a rod bearing at 220,000 miles and did my TT swap. I can't offer an explanation, only my observation.
